More accuracy from your machines with the standard low backlash construction
All Varvel gearboxes feature low backlash construction as a standard feature. This means more accuracy for each machine on which they will be installed.
Low backlash is a standard feature of our gearboxes because:
- worm shafts have a standard ZI profile made using a contoured grinding wheel to ensure high angular precision in motion transmission.
- helical gears have a ground helical toothing profile.
- bevel gears have a ground or accurately run-in GLEASON spiral toothing profile.
All Varvel products are managed and monitored in Italy at our headquarters in Crespellano, Bologna.
No more oil leaks with Freudenberg oil seals as standard on all gearboxes
Varvel has chosen to fit oil seals made by the German world leader Freudenberg on all gearboxes.
This decision springs from the awareness that incorrect lubrication is one of the major problems of industrial machinery and especially of speed reducers. By fitting Freudenberg oil seals on all standard products, Varvel offers an additional guarantee that the gearboxes will not leak and increases maximum reliability as a consequence.
Multiple motors on the same gearbox using the patented Varvel coupling system
The patented Varvel motor coupling on all gearboxes is another factor that provides several benefits because:
- It eliminates the key-keyway friction (tribocorrosion)
- There is no backlash in the gearbox/motor connection
- It allows an angular offset of up to 1°
- It provides high torsional rigidity
- It increases vibration damping

Servomotor solutions always available with a wide range of flanges in stock
The availability of over one hundred types of motor flanges means being able to couple with any type of motor (IEC, NEMA, BRUSHLESS, STEPPER) without increasing the overall dimensions of the gearmotor.
It is also possible to change the type of motor used on the gearbox by replacing only the connection flange.
The seal is located on the housing instead of the motor flange. This means that the motor can be replaced even when the gearbox is already installed and without any need to intervene on the lubricating oil contained inside. Furthermore, Varvel provides specially designed oils and sealing rings to reduce friction and meet additional, specific operational needs.

The high modularity of Varvel products means fast deliveries
Finally, Varvel has chosen to design highly modular products with gearbox-independent flanges and couplings that can be assembled and kept in stock because they are not drive shaft specific.
This decision ensures very fast deliveries and the possibility for our customers to change the type or size of motor without needing to replace the gearbox they already own. Unscheduled maintenance is easier because you can act quickly and directly on the faulty part (motor, gear, flange, etc.) without having to replace the entire gearbox. Furthermore, for customers who need to keep material in stock, the modular solution means fewer parts and a greater product rotation for a proper fixed asset optimization.
